I am also  appreciative of the care taken by travel editors in the presentation of my  material,  and in particular to Stephen Scourfield of The West Australian newspaper.

As a comedian recently said: “Awards are meaningless unless they are given to me.”  So feel free to ascribe any meaning to the following awards that have come  my way  as a reporter,  foreign correspondent and feature writer:

(1)   Australian national award

  • Best print media news report on education in Australia. Awarded by Australian Council of Deans of Education

(2)   Western Australia awards

  • Perth Press Club Award for consistent excellence in journalism.
  • Finalist for best investigative writing in national journalism (Walkley) awards
  • Best contribution to Western Australian newspaper or
periodical: The Arthur Lovekin prize. Awarded by the University of WA

My aim in travel writing is to entertain you at the same times as  giving you some useful information.
